In 2022, JCPenney celebrated 120 years as an iconic American brand. In continuing our legacy as the shopping destination for America’s diverse working families, JCPenney’s transformation and strategy team is a key driver of the Company’s transformation journey.
“We’re not chasing shiny objects,” said Keith Melker, Chief Transformation and Strategy officer. “Our focus is in making JCPenney a great place to shop and work.”
Since joining the leadership team in early 2023 as chief transformation and strategy officer, Keith oversees the transformation office, ensuring the Company’s initiatives are successfully executed. Keith is confident that JCPenney is investing in its future.
“JCPenney is in a great starting position with low debt and good liquidity,” said Keith. “There’s a lot of people who believe in JCPenney, including our customers and our associates. Those are the ingredients that are going to help us to be transformative in everything that we do.”
Keith says driving results within JCPenney’s transformation journey heavily involves technology, naming consumer marketing, dot-com and the check-out experience as key areas of focus. With his extensive background in corporate strategy, transformation and supporting leading companies, Keith is thrilled to be a part of JCPenney’s transformation story.
“In strategy consulting, I had the opportunity to work with JCPenney as a client,” said Keith. “Later in my career, I was introduced to Marc and became drawn to his vision for transforming the business. I always enjoyed the people and the collaborative culture of JCPenney. Ultimately, I joined because of the people.”
JCPenney welcomes Keith with open arms as we head into our next chapter in our continuing transformation journey. For more information on transformation, strategy and partnerships you can contact jcpnews@jcp.com.
