iMPOWER by Prabal Gurung for JCPenney Launches with an NYC Pop-Up

JCPenney, the shopping destination for America’s diverse, working families, and iconic award-winning fashion designer Prabal Gurung have combined style and quality with iMPOWER by Prabal Gurung for JCPenney, a versatile collection of dresses and jumpsuits for every occasion, available in stores and online now for a limited time only.

Inspired by the joy of florals and their relentless beauty, iMPOWER by Prabal Gurung celebrates all women and brings affordable luxury to JCPenney with 25 size-inclusive styles, all under $100. Prabal’s clear vision of beauty and mission to embrace an inclusive world aligns with JCPenney’s values and commitment to its diverse customers, ultimately creating the perfect partnership.

“This collaboration with JCPenney is a joyful tribute to the power and resilience of the female spirit,” said New York-based designer, Prabal Gurung. “This collection is a celebration of diversity, inclusion and optimism and is an ode to the women who have held my hand and helped me grow. To me, beauty is inclusion in every size, every color, and that is the world I live in and the world I wanted to create with this collection.”

To celebrate the launch of this collaboration, JCPenney and Prabal Gurung teamed up for a one-of-a-kind pop-up shopping experience in New York City’s Meatpacking District. Shoppers were invited to view and try on the collection in person on March 2 in a space decked out in the stunning campaign imagery from JCPenney’s in-house creative agency. The campaign was shot by legendary photographer Norman Jean Roy in New York City and features six powerful business owners, founders, icons and trailblazers including Shalom Harlow, Natalia Bryant, Varsha Thapa, Nyakio Grieco, Cece Meadows and Sara Happ.

In addition to exploring the collection in-person, NYC shoppers could also take home a bespoke bouquet from a local florist and take advantage of a plethora of Instagram-worthy photo moments. Prabal himself also made an appearance, taking plenty of selfies and helping style delighted customers in his collection.

In an interview with Glossy, Prabal said “I constantly get comments like, “I love your collection, but it’s very expensive.’ Price is no longer an indicator of quality. The fashion world is a small percentage of America, and it often feels very elitist. … I want to make more people feel seen.”
