JCPenney is proud to support the Runway of Dreams Foundation and its mission to champion inclusive fashion and beauty. Last week, we joined the organization on the runway in Los Angeles.
During “A Fashion Revolution,” a one-of-a-kind fashion show by Runway of Dreams, we debuted Spring adaptive styles from some of our most-loved private brands, including a.n.a, Arizona, St. John’s Bay, Stafford, Thereabouts and Worthington as well as the new Mutual Weave men’s lifestyle brand. Our styles were part of a lineup that featured more than 60 models, from children to adults with varying disabilities, ethnicities and backgrounds.
Revolutionizing the Runway with Functional Fashion
The Spring event was our second consecutive seasonal fashion show as a Runway of Dreams partner. In the 2021 fall fashion show, we premiered our most inclusive kids line yet Thereabouts, and adult adaptive from several private brands. Since, we’ve grown our adaptive assortment within new brands and offering new seasonal styles.
We share the Runway of Dreams vision for a future of inclusion, acceptance and opportunity. The organization help empower people with disabilities with confidence and self-expression by providing wardrobe grants, scholarships and exposure for the most innovative adaptive fashion.
Celebrating Diversity Through Fashion
Offering adaptive and inclusive fashion is core to JCPenney’s purpose to serve diverse, working American families.
When we design adaptive clothing for customers with sensory, dexterity and/or mobility needs, we look for super soft fabrics and materials. We also incorporate features like easy-access openings, sensory-friendly seams, no tags, adjustable waist bands and pull-on loops. And while function is important and each adaptive feature aims to provide comfort and confidence, we’re also passionate about making sure every customer can have great style.
