JCPenney Recognized as a Top 50 Best Company for Latinas by Latina Style during Hispanic Heritage Month

For the fifth consecutive year, JCPenney is proud to be included in the LATINA Style 50 Report of the 2020 50 Best Companies for Latinas, ranking 28th on the list this year. The annual report evaluates hundreds of companies and the list is the most respected ranking of corporate America’s career and advancement opportunities for Latinas.

“We are honored to be recognized as a leading supporter of the Hispanic community, as nearly 25 percent of our total associate population identify as Hispanic,” said Brynn Evanson, JCPenney Chief Human Resources Officer. “We have a strong Inclusion & Diversity program at JCPenney, and this achievement is a reflection of the strong commitment throughout our organization to grow and cultivate an inclusive culture. We are especially proud to receive this recognition during Hispanic Heritage Month.”

The principal areas of evaluation by LATINA Style include the number of Latina executives, Latina retention, mentoring programs, educational opportunities, employee benefits, active affinity groups, and Hispanic community relations. The questions on the submission survey for participating companies are reflective of workplace elements deemed most important by LATINA Style Magazine readers.

“Over the years the survey has also evolved to ensure more opportunities for Latinas are taken into consideration,” said Robert Bard, chief executive officer of LATINA Style, Inc. “With the mission to recognize the work corporate America is doing to advance and empower Latinas, the survey not only reflects the opportunities provided to Latinas, it is also a reflection of the company’s culture and overall focus on diversity and inclusion.”

The annual awards ceremony honoring the LATINA Style 50 companies will take place in February 2021 during the LATINA Style 50 Awards and Diversity Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. LATINA Style Magazine, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is a national publication for the professional Hispanic woman and has a national readership of nearly 600,000.

JCPenney continues to earn recognition for its Inclusion & Diversity efforts, as this honor follows two rankings earlier this year. In August, the Company ranked 29th on Diversity MBA’s Top 50 Best Places to Work for Women and Diverse Managers, and in May, Working Mother magazine named JCPenney one of the 2020 Best Companies for Multicultural Women.
