JCPenney Associates Share the Holiday Spirit Adopting 1,500 “Angels” from the Salvation Army

JCPenney associates from our Home Office, located in Plano, Texas, helped to spread some holiday cheer this season by adopting 1,500 angels from the Dallas-Fort Worth Salvation Army Angel Tree program. Through our associates’ generous donations, which included over 9,000 gifts totaling approximately $105,000, thousands of children and seniors in need will find gifts waiting under their tree this Christmas.

The Angel Tree program is one of The Salvation Army’s highest profile Christmas efforts, dating back to 1979. Through the program, The Salvation Army is able to provide new clothes and toys for more than one million individuals who may otherwise go without Christmas presents during the holiday season.

Brynn Evanson, executive vice president of human resources and chairman of the JCPenney Communities Foundation shared, “Participating in the Angel Tree program has become a cherished holiday tradition for our Home Office associates and we look forward to being a part of this giving opportunity each year. Everyone should experience the excitement of receiving a gift for the holiday and we’re grateful for the Salvation Army’s efforts to ensure that countless children and seniors throughout our community have a special Christmas.”

JCPenney has partnered with the Salvation Army for over the past 20 years and today, our company is one of the top corporate donors for the Dallas-Fort Worth Salvation Army Angel Tree program. Additionally, over 250 of our associates volunteered by packaging presents at the JCPenney Home Office and sorting and distributing donations at the Salvation Army.
