2020 has been the most unpredictable year in recent memory as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic ushered in a host of change and innovation. Customer shopping behaviors have evolved, and JCPenney has adapted to new ways of serving customers safely and conveniently through: our flagship store, jcp.com, that is faster and easier to use, our improved mobile application, which provides an elevated experience showcasing our compelling merchandise, and our Contact-free curbside pickup available at all of our go-forward locations.
This year, we have made the decision to close our stores on Thanksgiving Day in honor of our dedicated associates and customers to allow them to stay safe, relax, and enjoy the day with loved ones.
“We have learned a great deal over these past several months. Our extraordinary associates have demonstrated their warrior spirit through their courage and unwavering commitment to serve our customers since reopening our stores with numerous safety precautions in place,” said Jill Soltau, chief executive officer of JCPenney. “And our loyal customers, who remain at the heart of everything we do, have supported us throughout the many challenges they have braved during the pandemic.”
For customers who shop our stores before or after the holiday, their health and safety remain our top priority. We’ve implemented a number of safety precautions, such as requiring face coverings and providing hand sanitizer for our customers and associates, diligently cleaning our stores with a focus on high-touch areas, and installing plexiglass at open registers in all stores.
Plans are underway to provide incredible value on great products throughout November and December. We know this holiday season will be even more special to our customers, and we remain committed to making their shopping experience frictionless and safe.
